Training for Local Leaders

Dealing Effectively with Race to the Top and House Bill 1

OEA is offering training for local leaders to position their associations for advocacy and bargaining on Race to the Top (RTTT) and House Bill 1 issues. The two-day event will feature strategies for pursuing teaching and learning conditions that benefit members and the learners they serve. Accordingly, the theme for the training is members building bridges to 21st century learning.

Priority will be given to RTTT locals, if registration numbers exceed the conference's capacity. We encourage each local to send the president and a member of the labor-management team that will be overseeing school improvement for the district (e.g., RTTT transformation team).

Expenses: OEA will provide meals for all participants and lodging for members who travel 50 miles or more to Columbus. In addition, members may submit expense vouchers for mileage reimbursement to and from the Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington.
